Application Process
1) Check the requirements
Download the open call documentation and check the FAQ’s and make sure that your project meets the requirements of the call.
2) Expression of interest
Complete the optional expression of interest form and benefit from our feedback.
3) Engage with the ESA Phi-Lab UK partners
Applicants who wish to explore support from ESA Phi‑Lab UK partners should engage with them ahead of the deadline to allow adequate time for discussion of the proposed application and any potential support.
4) Pre-submission draft proposal review
Following completion of the expression of interest, applicants are encouraged to submit a draft proposal for a light‑touch review. This review provides high‑level feedback on areas for improvement and an initial check for obvious non‑compliance with the call requirements.
The pre‑submission review is advisory only and does not constitute an assessment of the proposal, nor does it influence the outcome of the formal evaluation. Applicants remain solely responsible for ensuring the completeness and compliance of their final submission.
5) Apply for our program
Complete the research proposal application template and send it to esaphilab@stfc.ac.uk before the deadline.
6) Evaluation process
Applications passing the tender opening board are invited for presentations at the ESA Phi-Lab UK tender evaluation board.
